upadeśa, "the teaching"

This term refers to the various classificatory lists of morphemic elements used in Pāṇinian grammar.

• pratyayāḥ -- the suffixes contained in the grammar
• śivasūtrāṇi -- the abbreviated terms used to refer to groups of sounds
• ādeśāḥ -- the substitutes contained in the grammar
• āgamāḥ -- the augments contained in the grammar
• dhātupāṭhaḥ -- the list of verbal roots with classification
• gaṇapāṭhaḥ -- the list of nominal roots with classification

What is the source for this mnemonic? It is given without attribution by Michika 2017 Vol 1 p. 14.

प्रत्ययाः शिवसूत्राणी ह्यादेशा आगमास्तथा।
धातुपाठो गणे पाठ उपदेशाः प्रकीर्तिताः

pratyayāḥ śivasūtrāṇi hi ādeśāḥ āgamāḥ tathā
dhātupāṭhaḥ gaṇe pāṭhaḥ upadeśāḥ prakīrtitāḥ

Thus indeed suffixes, the Śiva-sūtras, substitutes, augments
The verb-root list, [and] the nominal-root list are called "the teaching".
